Paralect is a 2D platformer that uses gameplay, visuals, and narrative to tell a personal story of cultural unrooting. It explores the paradigm shifts caused by culture shock and adaptation and investigates how those transformations affect one's vision of people, their environment, the place you initially came from and, most importantly, the place you wish to call home.

The game is divided into a sequence of experiences. At first glance, the main world is a typical platformer, presenting the player with environmental obstacles and puzzles. However, the narrative delivery system allows the player to spatially explore the monologue of NPCs and discover clues about how these characters and their worlds work.

"Peat" is a puzzle platformer made for my Capstone project at Herzing University in Madison. The game involves getting to the end of each level by planting, burning, and regrowing flowers. Peat has a zinnia seed at his disposal to aid in this challenge, which he can grow and traverse with available patches of dirt. The problem is once the seed is planted, the door and means to leave closes. Thankfully, Peat can retrieve the seed by burning the zinnia flower with his flower breath.

Perfect Puzzle Parkour is a score-attack game about strategic planning and fast-paced action. The player is tasked with using limited resources to build a 3D obstacle course that she must then successfully navigate.

Will you build a beautifully complex level that bestows upon you heavy rewards when run perfectly? Will you waste money on an inefficient but safe path to victory? Will you forget your meticulously crafted plan and immediately take a wrong turn into oblivion? Will you master all of the skills at your disposal, climbing, jumping, and wall kicking your way through a beautiful escher-like tree of elegant possibilities?

You may be surprised by the answers to these questions when you play Perfect Puzzle Parkour.

Perfect Woman is structured into progressive levels, each one representing a different stage in a woman's life. Starting at the child stage, players must post in front of a Kinect to mimic various poses that appear on screen. The better a player is able to hold the pose, the more "perfect" their rating for that level.

Perfect Woman features a branching decision tree which serves to create a narrative of the character's life. Past choices may make future choices more difficult. Perfect Woman suggests that it isn't possible to be perfect at every stage in life, and that's perfectly fine.

Perfection. is a simple, soothing puzzle game about cutting shapes to fit into outlines. There is an infinite number of puzzles, each randomly generated to be unique and interesting.

Its gameplay is very minimalistic and very forgiving; there is no time limit, and you can cut as many times as you want and undo as many times as you want until you get each shape right. Or, you can challenge yourself to clear the shape in front of you in as few cuts as possible. Whether you get it perfect or not, once a shape is completed, it's gone forever. There's no commitment to go back and master what you've already seen; only what's new and in front of you.

During the Cold War this complex was the home of scientists who conducted secret tests and experiments in an attempt to create new weapons with which to fight the Soviets. Experiments in genetic modification carried out at the base showed great promise and the scientists went forward with modifying a large amount of test animals and human subjects. Something went wrong; the test subjects began mutating into horrible monstrosities. At first those in charge of the base thought the creatures could be contained; they were wrong. The creatures broke out and killed everyone in the complex. In the confusion of the Cold War the lab was lost and forgotten. Now nearly 30 years later the whole complex is falling apart, constant storms have worn the building down and the creatures inside are as dangerous as ever. The complex still shows signs of the horrible violence that occurred there as the scientists and base security tried to defend themselves from the monsters they created. The monsters have survived in the building, its isolation and the extreme weather protecting the rest of the world from the abominations within. The frozen complex has lain dormant and undisturbed all this time, until now...

The game is a 2D Puzzle Platformer where the main goal is to reach the exit using your vast supply of Molotov Cocktails, Liquid Nitrogen and Fans.

Between you and the exit are a variety of environmental objects and enemies that you must manipulate in order to progress. This might mean using Liquid Nitrogen to freeze an enemy so you can climb over them or using fire to burn an enemy so they fall onto a switch.

The game is a 3D isometric view sports game in which the player controls one of the 3 pirates on their ship to battle with pirate enemies from another ship with dodge ball. The player needs to control his pirates to throw dodge ball at the enemy to hurt and eventually defeat every one of the enemy pirates in order to win the game.

The player controls one of the crews on his side, and he throw the dodge ball towards enemies and hence hurt them. When attacking, he can do "run and shoot" or "jump and shoot" to throw and ball with faster speed and higher damage.

While the ball is flying towards one of player's pirates, the player can catch the ball by pressing the throw key when the ball is within a certain distance to the pirate but not close enough to hit him. In this way the player needs to react quickly and accurately in order to catch the ball.
Each pirate has his own HP, and will be killed (knock away into the sea) if HP goes to 0.
Player can also pass the ball among his crews, and whoever gets the ball become the one the player is controlling.

I chose the form of a 2D puzzle platformer in order to build spatial puzzles that require the application of these tools, hopefully leaving insight on the subject matter. It is my hope to continue development at some point.

Protocol 47 is a 2D endless runner for the iPad that takes the genre in a new direction. The team at 8-Bit Breakfast really enjoy the addictive, fast paced game-play that the popular genre of 2D runners provide. However, they tend to end quickly and with no time for the player to enjoy how well they are doing. Protocol 47 explores the gameplay possibilities of a 2D runner where the player can afford to make multiple mistakes and has time to "breath" with round-based gameplay. Additionally, players can upgrade their abilities during each game session to drastically improve their survivability. All of this is aimed at having players feel more attached to each run they play when compared to more traditional endless runners.

Protocol 47 is a mere 7 weeks into development. Because of this, some features that you may see may have yet to be fully implemented (leaderboards, player login, "meta" store, in addition to more enemy types and platforms). That being said, it is already a blast to play, and we look forward to sharing the experience with everyone.

RABBITVILLE IS IN DANGER!

The original idea behind the game was the theme "Dystopias are internal realities." We really wanted to make a narrative-based game that wasn't simply a game with a story tacked-on; but a game that was irrevocably tied at some core level with the narrative: a story that can only be told through the game, and a game that can only exist with this story.

"a rad Rhythm Paradise-esque browser game." - Jeffrey Matulef, Eurogamer

Many, many hours have been spent making the engine accurate enough to support a margin of error of a few hundredths of a second. This extremely small margin, compared to most traditional rhythm games, means most people will not realise their rhythm is off until they play Rhythm Doctor!

We made this game over the summer and winter vacations of the past three years. It is still being continually worked on, and we hope the fun we've had making this translates into your experience. You might even develop your sense of rhythm a little. ;)

Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages combines all the deep customization and rich storytelling of an RPG with the fast-paced action of a space shooter.

STORY

You awake from unelective brain surgery to find key memory centers of your brain missing. They've been replaced by Nero, your peanut-butter-craving neuro-Hud, who'll guide you through the universal super-highways known as The Rings. If you survive fiery trench runs, flail-swinging gladiators in intergalactic arenas, and feuding trash moguls, you'll discover that you're a Sage, capable of rewriting the physical laws with your thoughts.

Exploring the quantum space beneath atoms has made most Sages rather eccentric, but relatively harmless. Yet The Consortium of the Inner Rings deemed that anyone capable of destroying a world with a thought will never be bound by its laws. In the interest of peace and order, they've slated the Sages for extermination. So began The Extinguishing, a universal war with casualties measured in galaxies. You'll play a pivotal role in this terrible battle... if you can find out who you are.

Royal Rampage is a third-person action game in which you control a deposed King's short-sighted attempt at vengeance. Having escaped the castle dungeon, you must rush around the streets, smashing things up and collecting as much of your lost treasure as you can (the villagers stole it all when they locked you up. You weren't even *that* tyrannical). But watch that you don't get too angry or your head is in danger of exploding! Smash things in order to calm yourself down and watch out for those infuriatingly violent guards! The screen will change and the rad music will evolve into power metal as cues to how angry you are.

The goal of the game is to accrue as high a score as possible. To that end, you must reclaim your pilfered treasure. But rage will quickly overcome you if you also don't see to venting it, so to reach a truly high score you must be adept at balancing your effort between smashing and collecting. The randomly-generated play area is extremely long and your rage will only get harder to soothe and so every game will *always* eventually end... sometimes sooner rather than later... but that only provides incentive to do better next time!

Ruratae is a musical instrument-crafting game that uses a custom physics-based audio engine to generate the sounds of vibrating objects. This engine is a result of Drew's PhD dissertation research (in computer music). It's important to emphasize that the sounds you hear are created directly from the physics of the system; there are no pre-recorded samples; no synthesizer "tricks", you are directly listening to the vibrations of whatever instrument you can dream up. Later versions of the engine will also allow for more ways to vibrate the instruments, such as using flamethrowers and electromagnets.

We like to think that Ruratae offers something to the genre of "music" games that very few other titles offer. Most music games play a song and have you tap to it, or if they go slightly further than that, they might offer the user an elementary instrument alla "Simon Says". What we're offering you is an entire musical world of your own design and imagination. The sonic puzzles related to these instruments will require a depth of listening compression and attention to sonic detail that has yet to be appreciated by the majority of games. I hope it will be enriching and thought-provoking; even for people without any formal musical training whatsoever.
