In the distant future Humanity grew into a great and prosperous civilization. The population boomed and giant megacities were erected as monuments to their great society. Everything was great, until the Fall. No one really can say for sure what caused it, but at the height of humanities rule a global catastrophe wiped out most of the population and reshaped the world as they knew it. The landscape changed rapidly and seemingly unexplainably. the ever changing climate and hostile conditions of this new world was devastating. The few remaining fragments of society plunged into chaos.

Astroneer sets players in a 25th century gold rush where they explore the frontiers of outer space, risking their lives and resources in harsh environments for the chance of striking it rich. On this adventure, a player's most useful tool is their ability to shape their world, altering the terrain and extracting valuable resources from planets, asteroids, and moons. Resources can be traded on the open market or crafted into new tools, vehicles, and modules to create everything from massive industrial bases to pop-up tents for overnight expeditions.

Set in 1940, you're a French legionnaire in one of the last military hot air balloon to oversee the Hanoi bay and secure the area due to early independence riots. You get separated from your ship and blown away by the winds. Unable to contact your base or control the balloon, you finally hit the Kawagarbo and get thrown overboard.

Now equipped with two improvised ice axes your only chance of survival is to reach the top of this known sacred mountain and get back to your craft before the winds frees it.
